We are pleased to welcome Pastor Joseph Piresson and his family.
Since the beginning of November 2014, we have been enjoying our new pastor's sermons and getting to know him and his family. Pastor Piresson is joined by his wife Fatima, his daughter Ambrosee and his son Joseph.
Pastor Joseph Piresson was born in Brazil and is the oldest of five children. He became a Seventh-day Adventist at the age of 14 and by the age of 21 had already been Pathfinder counselor, Youth, Sabbath School, and Evangelism director. In order to pay for his schooling from academy through college he did literature evangelism. God blessed his work and he became a successful literature evangelist. So at the age of 24 he was invited by the Columbia Union Conference in the US to do literature evangelism in New Bedford, MA. It was on his first day in the US that he met Fatima, now his wife of 20 years.
Pastor Piresson started his ministry as a full-time church pastor in January of 2000. He is a graduate from Atlantic Union College with a double major in Theology and Spanish, and a Minor in Education. He also earned an M.Div. degree from Andrews University. In 2010 and 2011 he took graduate classes in Archaeology at Southern Adventist University and at the Hebrew University In Jerusalem. And he was also able to participate as a member of the Archaeological team doing excavations during the seasons of 2010 and 2011 in Khirbet Qeiyafa, a fortified settlement resting atop a hill overlooking the Elah Valley of the Judean Shephelah in south-central Israel.
He sincerely believes we are living in the last days of earth’s history and it is his earnest desire to always be an instrument used by God in the preaching of the Gospel. He believes God has a special message, the Three Angels Message, and a special people, the Seventh-day Adventists, to reach a perishing world, His wayward children. “With the assurance that our Lord and Savior Jesus is leading us the Piressons look forward to a great and wonderful ministry with their Johnston-Burrillville-Wickford church family.”
His wife, Fatima, has been an educator for over 25 years. She is also a graduate of Atlantic Union College in Biology, Spanish, and Education. She completed a master’s degree at Worcester State University and in 2008 she earned an Ed.S. degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Andrews University. They have been blessed with two wonderful children, Ambrosee is a Pre-Med and Music Major at the University of Connecticut and Joseph who is finishing high school. Pastor Piresson and his family love music and enjoy singing and playing for church and other church related events like camp-meetings. Ambrosee and Joseph both play the piano and the violin. The family is known to all play and sing together regularly.
